I recently only found out about ‘ Billy’s Death’ and it saddened me greatly. I met this fine man when we played Semi Professional Football when we were both only 20 years old. He and I ran halfback together and I was always amazed at his God Given talent. He could do more with his body than most men I’ve ever played with. No tackler took him down without a fight and it was usually with two or three others having to work very hard in doing so. How he loved to run but he would always be a great blocker for other runners as I when I have my chances. His personality and complete goodness of character was a joy to be behold from the locker room to post game. His smile was infectious . I lost track of Billy when the Vietnam War heated up and many of us headed overseas, but I always thought about him. I noticed he coached and taught , but I never knew what college he eventually went to and would love to find out how his life went after our Semi Pro days. I envy all of you who loved him, and were close to him and I offer my condolences to all of you.. Truly : Frank ‘Lefty’ Pignone Stoneham Mass.
